Great! I was just looking for something like this. But there's no groups for Historical writers....

Can anyone suggest good prose writers (or poetry, I'm not picky!) in the historical genre? I'm fed up of reading things like: "Diary of a British Soldier -Our English teacher set us this in class, so here it is...." etc. Or Vampire fics set in C18th America pretending to be history. (So far I have heroically restrained myslef from pointing this out to them, but I might just snap if I don't find some good historical fiction soon!)
Thank-you in advance.

There used to be a group- [link] but they've been inactive for a long time, and so I've removed them from the list. The problem may be largely because historical fiction takes quite a bit of knowledge and research. I suspect most writers on DA don't care to do the research, and the ones who do research for their prose mainly stick with topics other than historical.

Perhaps look at the group members' galleries for prose, or note the founder if you'd like to re-activate it. :)

Thank-you. I agree with "most writers on DA don't care to do the research..." *grin* but some are fair enough, research-wise.

Some are more than fair enough. :) I hope that helped.
